Users shouldn't be taken away from the current page to the bibbase page

Paul Parsons 9 år siden opdateret af Christian Fritz 9 år siden 3
When clicking on a publication, users shouldn't be taken away from the current page to the bibbase page. It is very confusing and they often don't know how to get back. This is especially true if they click on the bibbase logo. There is no visual indication that they are going somewhere else. They see "sign in" and other confusing information.

Abstracts not properly escaped in BibBase v3

Raphael ‘kena’ Poss 11 år siden opdateret af Christian Fritz 11 år siden 1
If the abstract contains an apostrophe (') the generated abstract link is incorrect and does not work properly; for example:

  <a class="bibbase_abstract_link" href="javascript:showAbstract('... the platform's hardware concurrency management and latency tolerance....')">Abstract</a>

The string delimiter in the abstract text should be escaped.

Hi Raphael,

Thanks for reporting this bug. It's fixed now. Unfortunately, I can't seem to force your page to reload though. I suspect the php proxy is caching the old version. So I can't test it on your page.

accept one-off fees for faster processing, longer files

Maximilian Held 10 år siden opdateret af Christian Fritz 10 år siden 5
(this is half idea, half praise).

I love this service so much -- it's a godsend, especially, if like me, you're getting off of Mendeley and back to basic BibDesk/Bibtex/Github.

I like BibBase so much, I'd be willing to pay for it (preferably one-off? or a donation?), maybe in return for faster processing and/or acceptance of longer files.

I use BibBase a lot for class reading lists, and would also like to have a "I read recently listing" from my entire 4MB file, but I noticed that such long files don't fare well.

(or maybe this isn't even possible in terms of architecture?)

Is bibbase down right now? And if so, does this happen frequently?

Sorry, there was a technical glitch. It's fixed now.

No, this does not happen frequently and I'm working on reducing outages like this to zero.

Hi Pierre,

Yes, I've just released a new version of BibBase on a new server and that file is no obsolete and gone. I've updated the help page now. Please use http://bibbase.org/css/styles/default.css instead, which is the default css for the new version.

Thanks,

Christian

Https not allowed

Gustavo Cevolani 10 år siden opdateret af Christian Fritz 10 år siden 3

I'd suggest to make clear in the instruction that https is not allowed in the address of the .bib file. This may be relevant because many people may try to use Dropbox or similar services to put their .bib file online, and this wouldn't work (or at least it didn't work for me). In short: emphasize that the address must start with "http" only (if this is the case). Many thanks for your work.

Abstract does not expand

The abstract does not expand on my websites

This should be fixed now. Please let me know if you notice any more issues with this. The UBC page seems to be doing some server-side caching (probably of the php request), so there it isn't working yet as of right now (7:48pm on pi-day), but should start working soon.

Thanks for pointing this out!

Abstracts not expanding proberly when references are grouped by keywords (multiple keywords per ref)

Laurie Bayeah 10 år siden opdateret 10 år siden 3
Hello,

When the list of references are grouped by keywords, referecnes can show up multiple times in the list if thay have several keywords.

For example Bidule2014 will be listed under 3 different keywords and so will appear 3 times. Now if I try to expand the abstract of the 2nd or 3rd instance of Bidule2014 the abstract will not expand there and will expand under the first appearance of Bidule 2014.

It is a very minor issue, but maybe you did not know that it was behaving this way :-)

Cheers and thank you for your amazing work on Bibbase

Zotero groups

Jeroen Smid 11 år siden opdateret af Christian Fritz 11 år siden 4

Dear Christian,

Would it be an idea to creat a way to display zotero groups using bibbase just like it is possible now to do with Mendeley groups? Seems relevant given the fact that some are now leaving Mendeley for Zotero since the first is bought by Elsevier. In any case, I prefer Zotero :)

Thanks!

Jeroen,

I've now implemented full support for Zotero. You can now use your Zotero library, collection, or group with BibBase with just a few clicks.
